Mr. Nice [MOVIE]

Mr. Nice is Mr. Marks. Who is Mr. Howard Marks?
One of the world's top marijuana smugglers in the 1960s from Britian.
After getting into Oxford, drug dealing was not his first career choice.
When teaching wasn't getting him through, he turned to dealing cannabis.
Although 40+ year old Rhys Ifans tried to play a freshman in college, it was still a wonderful movie, in my opinion.

It was slow at times, but the whole story had a certian charm that only a man high on marijuana can posses.

Ten Inch Hero [MOVIE]

This film revolves around a small group of people who work in a sandwich shop and what is going on in their lives. Piper, the lead, moves to the area to try and find her daughter whom she gave up for adoption six years earlier when she was about fifteen.
It's a very good film. It didn't end as expected, but I was very happy with the ending.

I think this is the kind of movie everyone needs to watch in their lifetime.

Toast [MOVIE]

Based on the autobiography by Nigel Slater; as a young boy, Nigel lives with his father and mother who both cannot cook well (to say the least). When his mother becomes deathly ill, he is forced to move to a secluded house hours away with his father and their "cleaner," Mrs. Potter (Helena Bonham Carter).

This film focuses on Nigel's tribulations through his childhood and adolescent years while he strives to cook despite being teased by his classmates for taking up cooking instead of woodworking.

Enjoyably, the real Nigel Slater makes a cameo appearance during the ending.

It was a very good movie. The only drawback I saw, was that I would have loved more cooking scenes, as I love to cook. (And eat!)
It's a wonderful coming of age story that I enjoyed thoroughly! Watch it!

The Decoy Bride [MOVIE]

Of course, like 90% of all chick-flicks, I predicted it just by seeing the title and the cover image.
Even being right, it was still a good watch. The acting was natural in a seemingly unnatural situation. David Tennant was as charming as always playing the groom of the story.
The film is set in his [Tennant's] homeland of Scotland; although, playing a writer, his accent for the film was English. The writer, James's, wife-to-be was an American actress who couldn't get away from the press long enough to get married.
The title says it all.
On the isle of Hagg, a young woman taking care of her terminally ill mother must stand in for the actress when she goes missing.
It's a cute tale with lots of Scottish charm and a few good laughs.

If you're feeling down, or just like a good chick-flick, this is a heartwarming little tale.

Daydream Nation [MOVIE]

Teacher, student, student=love triangle.
Fairly predictable, with no real twists.
However, it was a good movie to watch to drive away boredom.
The acting was slightly hard to believe when it came to Kat Dennings and Josh Lucas, but Andie MacDowell, Katie Boland, and Reece Thompson were very believable and emotional. I was rather upset with the ending.
I have to give credit to the film for being artistic and creative with the philosophy and storytelling of the film.

Although I related to Kat Dennings's character in the early part of the film, by the latter part, I was feeling deeply annoyed at her actions and feelings.
The stories of the lives of everyone except the teacher, Josh Lucas and Kat Dennings, the student, were very interesting and emotionally deep.

The Amazing Spider-Man [MOVIE]

Firstly, I was a fan of the originals from 2002 on.
I clearly remember drawing a spider on my shirt for the third film, and going to see it on the day of theater release.
After seeing the preview for the "remake," I knew I had to see it. I was skeptical about Andrew Garfield about playing Peter Parker; however, I knew I would love this movie far more than the 2002 film just because Emma Stone and Rhys Ifans would be in it, and I was right!
It was spectacular, and so was Andrew Garfield.
In this adaption, Peter Parker tries to find out the history of his past and why his parents left him. That journey leads him to Dr. Curt Connors (Ifans) who was a close friend and colleague of Parker's fathers.
Although we don't have Mary Jane in this adaption, we do have Gwen Stacey (Stone), which worked out nicely in the plot of the story.
We all know Peter Parker gets bit by a "radioactive" or other type of genetically modified spider and gains abilities natural to a spider.

This film was far more serious, emotionally deeper, and funnier than the quirky original featuring Tobey Maguire as Spider-Man.

I would definitely call it "The Amazing" Spider-Man, over just "Spider-Man," when comparing it to the original film adaption.

Womb [MOVIE]

Two children meet and become friends.
At an age of innocence, they roam beaches and giggle at Grandfather's wrinkles though a magnifying glass.
When Rebecca has to move away to Japan, Tommy is heartbroken and promises to meet her at the ferry before she leaves... he doesn't make it.
Twelve years pass by until she returns to the beaches on which they used to play.
Once she finds Thomas, living in a modest sea shack, they seem to pick up just as they had left off. That is, until disaster strikes.
Rebecca is heartbroken after waiting all these years to see him and then loses him again, but this time, she refuses to part with him.
Although Thomas's mother disagrees, his father meets with Rebecca in secret to do an act considered by many parents to be taboo: cloning.
Womb takes us through the emotional tribulations of bearing a child you love both as a mother and as a spouse. Although set at a slow pace, the benefits of seeing a mother, lover, and society act to something we do not experience in daily life, which in my opinion, is worth it.

This film stars the popular and talented Eva Green and Matt Smith.
Green is known for appearing in Casino Royale and Dark Shadows.
Smith is known for appearing in Doctor Who (as The Doctor) and Christopher and His Kind (as Christopher).

Although this film in itself seems fairly taboo and even seemingly revolting, is is a great film that causes you to think and feel things you hadn't before you witnessed in this realistic masterpiece.
